The beret has ancient Greek or Roman origin [1] and use of berets as a military headdress dates back to the French Chasseurs alpins in World War 1 [2].
The “Green Beret”
The “Green Beret” is a symbol for the United States Army Special Forces or SF, is an elite special operations force trained for guerrilla warfare. They were informally known as "the Green Berets", because of the unit's distinctive green beret headgear. The Green Berets became popular thanks to the 1968 film about the American involvement in the Vietnam War featuring John Wayne titled "The Green Berets" [3].
